Claire started preschool today! She goes to the Discovery Center at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (where I go to church). She will go T/W/TH ...Wed. is an Enrichment class where she learns spanish, math, science, sign language and cooking! I have been attending this church for 6 years and I honestly didn't know they had a school...yeah I am really involved you can tell. We really liked the place she went to for Mother's Day Out but it was time to "upgrade". She now has two teachers in a classroom of about 14 kids. The actual room she is in is so much larger than her old one. We do really miss her friends Liberty and Gracie but they started new schools too and Claire called them today to ask how their day was and to tell them she had a good first day. Claire's friend Isabella is in her class so she already had a friend and was anxious to make new ones too! She ran right into her classroom and started playing. I'm not sure she even noticed I was leaving. I am so proud of her and I know she is going to learn so much this year!

My Hero
About a week ago I was watching the news and there was a story on the famine in Africa. Claire was walking through the room and it caught her attention too. Together we watched the story of how many people, so many of them just babies, are dying of disease and starvation. Claire asked me what was wrong with those babies and I told her some people are not as lucky as we are and they don't have enough to eat. She didn't understand and kept asking why they don't have food to eat. A tough topic to discuss with a three year old and as a mother I can't even imagine what it's like to watch your child starve and there is nothing you can do about it.
So today (a week later) Claire found a penny and I told her to put it in her piggy bank. I have told her many times that she can save her money to buy something fun like a book or toy. Then she said "Maybe we can buy those babies some food with my money". I was so proud of her. We dumped out her money, sorted it and counted it. $21.50. I told her she could help a lot of kids with her money and she said "Yeah because I am a super hero". Yes she is. I donated the amount to UNICEF.
When I worked I would get reviewed so I would know if I was doing a good job. There are days as a Mom when I wonder how I am doing. Today Claire showed me that I must be doing something right...

A Year and a Half
It doesn't seem possible, but Aubrey Jane is a year and a half old! I use this blog as a baby book so forgive me, but I need to remeber this stuff! We haven't had her 18 month appt. yet but I am sure she has hit 20 pounds (finally)! She is funny. The looks she gives and her personality are hilarious. Brad and I laugh all the time and he often says her sense of humor is awesome. She is running, jumping, climbing and dancing. I have found her jumping on the beds more than once. She can say lots of words including : no, uh-oh, bye bye, mama, dada, pop-pop, hi, toes and she can repeat almost anything we say. We have heard her sing happy birthday too! She is still a pettite little thing but she is growing and is hitting all of her milestones. She has 5 teeth and about ten more coming in at the moment. Her favorite thing to play with is a baby doll. Her favorite song is Old McDonald. She is extremely affectionate. Her hair is out of control. She likes to hit Claire and pull her hair...we are working on that. I love this girl so much!

Girls Weekend
A couple of weekends ago I got to spend the weekend with my college roomies (Mere and Lauren). I have known and loved these girls for almost 15 years now. We all have little girls and I can't wait to meet up some day with all of them for a big girls weekend! anyways, we stayed at the Gaylord Texan. We spent Sat. at the pool with some cold drinks, magazines and candy. It was perfect. Then we went up to our awesome room to get ready for dinner. It was then that we realized the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders were staying in the rooms all around us. How did we know? There was a ton of pink luggage in the hallway and they tape their pictures to the doors. As if I wasn't feeling old enough remembering college days...we easily had 10 years on these girls. We enjoyed a nice dinner and had plans to go to the Glass Cactus club but ended up talking all night. I love that we are still so close and we can pick up right where we left off. Can't wait to do it again!

Hair Cut
Claire and I were fighting too much about tangles and pony tails so I figured it was time for a hair cut. My friend Andrea has a salon in her garage so it was the perfect place to bring both kiddos. She sits so still and I think she looks so grown up now!
And just for laughs, can we please give a shout out to the haircut of '09...

Little Gym
I signed Aubrey up for Little Gym for the summer session! I did Little Gym with Claire when she was almost 2 so I wanted to do the same with AJ. She really enjoys it. As soon as we pull up she tries to take her shoes off because she knows that is what we do before we go in! She participates in all the songs, she claps, bangs sticks, waves scarfs, likes to summersault and of course waves at all the parents and babies.
Waiting for class to start!
And she's off!
Balls and Bubbles!
I think this picture sums up her skill set...
