1st Real Haircut

I took Claire to get her hair cut for the first time this morning. I've trimmed it a few times but she's never had to sit in a chair and have a full blown cut. I took her to Cool Cuts and she did great! She watched the movie they had on and sat in her car and ate a lolly pop. The haircut...not as good. Never utter the word bangs to someone holding scissors. I asked for her hair to be out of her face, it will take 3 months for her hair to grow long enough to be even close to her eyes now! Just in time for her 2 year old pictures and all the pictures that will be taken with the new baby. I might start calling her Loyd from Dumb and Dumber. I keep telling her how pretty she is just in case she glances in a mirror and realizes what I've done to her ;) It will grow out and there are bigger problems in the world, I know. But I'm putting in the baby book that her first haircut was not a total success!

Last day of Little Gym

Today was the last day of Little Gym for Claire and her friends. They had class once a week for a whole semester. At the end of class today they got a medal for their participation. The kids loved meeting every week and have improved so much since the first day of class. Claire loved it so much that we are having her birthday party there in a few weeks!

Baby Shower

I am lucky enough to be friends with the most wonderful group of Moms! My friend Czarina threw me a baby shower on Sunday afternoon, even though this is my second baby and another girl. I really have everything I need for Aubrey, but they were all so sweet and generous. We had a great time playing shower games (name the celebrity Mom, baby product Price is Right and we brought baby pictures of ourselves and tried to guess who was who!) The food was awesome...Lenae made the beautiful cake. I got all the diapers I think I will ever need and some adorable gifts. I seriously couldn't stop smiling on the way home because I am so grateful to have such good friends to celebrate and share this special time with!

Aubrey's Room

We are putting the finishing touches on the new baby's room! Thanks again to Amy for letting us borrow her beautiful baby bedding! It's finally all coming together and it feels real now! Just about a month to go! I keep trying to explain to Claire that she is going to be a big sister. We read books about Mommy's belly and about sisters. She knows my stomach is called Aubrey and she will kiss and hug it, but I don't think she really understands what is about to happen. Especially since she points to her own stomach and Brad's and says "Aubrey". Claire has been sleeping great in her twin bed for a few weeks now, so that hurdle is behind us. I've decided to wait on potty training until the summer...I don't see how I will have the time or energy to deal with it until then. So now we just wait...I am so excited and also ready to not be pregnant!

First Day of School

Today was Claire's first day at Mother's Day Out at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She goes with her two friends Gracie and Liberty. They go twice a week...Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 to 3:00. I was nervous when I dropped her off of course. She went right into the room and cried only after I made the mistake of trying to say goodbye. Apparently she stopped pretty soon after I left. I went and had coffee with my friend Marissa and we talked about the girls. then I came home and tried to figure out what to do with my free time. it was weird...I felt like I was missing a limb and I swear I heard Claire a few times in the house. I did some chores around the house, hung some things on the wall in Aubrey's room and took a bath. Next thing I knew it was time to go get her! The teacher said she and the girls did great for a first day! Claire even took a nap which shocked me. I'm excited to have a break...I will need the rest here at the end of my pregnancy and it will help now that I have to go to the Dr. every week from here on out. My only concern is her getting sick more often and the fact that she has a peanut allergy makes me a little nervous. But she did great and she is such a big girl!

Tea Party

As soon as Brad walks in the door from work Claire wants him to go play with her in her big girl bed. It's so cute...they are best buds. He always goes with her, even if he's hungry or just wants to sit down for a second. I found them playing tea party in her bed...although Brad insists they were not having a tea party, but rather, they were "making toast". Poor Brad...he's really in for it when Aubrey comes. Next thing I know I will find him in a dress and heels putting on make-up with the girls! Thanks for being such a great Daddy Brad!

Alamo Bowl

On Sat. morning we left for San Antonio for the Tech/Michigan State bowl game! We met my parents at the hotel which was right on the Riverwalk and immediately headed to lunch. My Dad wanted to take Claire to The Rainforest Cafe which is right on the river. She loved it...the elephants made her a little nervous, but we enjoyed a great lunch. Then we walked the Riverwalk for a few hours. At that point I needed to go back to the room and rest since I had a long night ahead of me. The game didn't start until 8:00 and it was quite a walk from our hotel, but I made it! Did I mention our seats were on the second to last row...as in the rafters?! I think I walked up 6,000 stairs. The game was awesome...we won!!! Then the long journey back. We got to the room around 1:00am and I was exhausted. My Mom stayed at the hotel and watched Claire for us so that was awesome. I think I was having some pretty strong contractions for awhile, but this morning I feel better. We are home now and I think I'm going to take it easy. it was a fun weekend, the last time I travel anywhere until after the baby is born!
